Students engage in hands-on, mentored research ad practical engineering opportunities across a broad range of engineering topics. Research is held in faculty labs, computer labs, and design/fabrication facilities. Practical engineering experiences are conducted under the supervision of Professional Engineers and engineers currently working in industry to provide students opportunities to work on real engineering projects.
The Immersion Program will include the research and regularly scheduled seminars that augment the faculty-mentored research. The Immersion Program will culminate in a Research Poster Expo attended by Illinois Tech faculty and administrators and working engineers in industry.
Seminars cover topics such as engineering ethics, safety, communicating research findings and project results, how to find and apply to graduate schools, and current research/technology in areas of global concerns (e.g., energy, security, health and water).
The Summer Immersion Program is a competitive program. Prospective students may apply to specific research opportunities that most closely fit their interests.
