Wesley Lo (BME, 4th year), was selected to present his research at BMES 2017, the annual meeting of the Biomedical Engineering Society. The event will take place between October 11-14, 2017 in Phoenix, Arizona.

The program, an Armour College of Engineering Distinctive Education initiative, offers undergraduate engineering students the opportunity to gain hands-on research and development experience in the lab of a faculty mentor.

Armour College of Engineering (ACE) is pleased to announce the Fall 2017 request for Armour R&D project proposals as part of the ACE Distinctive Education Initiative. The Fall 2017 Armour R&D program will run from September 11, 2017 to November 17, 2017.

Armour R&D offers two project tracks: Program for Undergraduate Research Education (PURE) and Mentored INovation and Development (MIND).

Three female engineering undergraduate students were honored at the 2017 Chicago Area Undergraduate Research Symposium (CAURS) for poster presentations detailing the results of their research. The Symposium is one of the largest annual undergraduate research conferences in the country, bringing together hundreds of undergraduate students in the greater Chicago area from all academic disciplines to present their research.

Maria Warren (CE, 5th year) was awarded a 2017 National Science Foundation (NSF) Graduate Research Fellowship (GRFP). Several individuals named recipients of this prestigious fellowship have gone on to make breakthroughs in their areas of expertise and been later honored as Nobel laureates.

Rettaliata Engineering Center for the 3rd Annual Armour R&D Expo 2017 on April 6. The poster exposition showcased the work of undergraduate students who participated in the Armour R&D program during the 2016-2017 academic year.

Armour College of Engineering undergraduate student, Svetlana Taylor (CHE 5th Year), was awarded first place poster presentation at the 2017 Illinois Section American Water Works Annual Conference and Expo, WATERCON. Her project, Designing and Modeling First- Flash Diverter for Rainwater Collection Using Superabsorbent Polymer Beads, detailed her efforts to develop a device that prevents the initial roof runoff from entering rainwater collection systems.
